First hour

Starting out

  1. Buy the book from another NPC for 10 silver, return to the quest giver, and pay another 100 silver to receive a rare weapon. The total cost is 110 silver. → Verdant Hollow [1]
  2. Accessories and outfits can be obtained by defeating powerful enemies or opening chests scattered across the world. → Gear [2]
  3. The information tab allows accessories and vanity accessories to be equipped and removed. → Information tab [3]

Getting around

  1. Interacting with pylons unlocks waypoints for teleportation. → Pylons [4]
  2. Pylon travel provides a way into the maze during daytime. → Pylons [5]

Combat basics

  1. F performs a weave. → Weave [7]
  2. Five consecutive successful weaves grant 25% more universal damage and increased universal speed. → Weave [8]
  3. Each class has three moves: an ability on G, an aura on C, and a class-specific dash on Q. → Classes [9]
  4. The bestiary lists enemy drops, including weapons, items, and accessories. → Bestiary [10]

Surviving the night

  1. The maze door opens at night and closes during the day. → Maze [11]
  2. Sanity has a maximum of 100. In draining areas, depletion from full to death takes about 2 minutes. Elsewhere, it refills from empty in about 40 seconds. Reaching 0 causes death and costs 1 Prestige. → Sanity [12]
  3. Existing campfires restore sanity. The runner outpost also restores sanity and functions like a campfire. → Sanity [13]
  4. Sanity potions provide another way to restore sanity. → Sanity [14]
  5. An early quest awards sanity potions, and the potions NPC in the starter village sells them. → Sanity [15]

Prestige

  1. Death reduces prestige by one level. → Prestige [16]
  2. Killing players of equal or higher prestige increases prestige. → Prestige [17]

Toward a class

  1. Learning a class requires finding its trainer in the open world and paying Silver plus Sins or Offerings, depending on the class. → Classes [18]
